Since then Bertuzzi went to Detriot and later Anahiem. Both Florida and Detriot have played in Vancouver while Bertuzzi was a member of the teams but never was he healthy enough to play!

--During the warm up, the crowd gave Bertuzzi a little love which quickly wore off as the game begin, as Bertuzzi didn't make much of a impact. At one point he did recieve a breakaway pass in on Luongo but it was a little ahead of him so he couldn't put it passed his trade counterpart. It also seemed that, at one point Bertuzzi went a little easy on Naslund, his former linemate and friend for many years, which resulted in a goal for the Canucks.

--I think Bertuzzi deserves some love when he comes to GM place, he was a big part of the Canucks Franchise for many years and was a big point producer on the top line of Naslund, Morrison and Bertuzzi, The West Coast Express, as they were called! He needs the fans support!

NHL Standings

1. It's okay but it could definitly be better. Before the Canucks 1-0 shootout lose to Edmonton, the team had won three straight! Luongo still recorded a shutout from the lose but im sure he would have perfered the win aswell! Either way the boys aren't doing that badly, a little less then the expectations that were thrown at them after their impressive playoff run last spring.
With a little more production from the big guns such as the Sedins, Naslund and Morrison and without letting the injuries affect them to much the Canucks could shine again. The teams next for games are important ones, against their division but they are 6-0-1 against their division so the future is looking bright!

The New Jersey Devils 26th in the league only ahead of Edmonton, Pheonix, Buffalo and Washington. The Devils need to step it up a bit. The retrun of langenbrunner brings ope to a struggling club but the Devils are letting their deficits get to them. The lose of Gomez was a blow to their ofence strategy but even bigger seems to be the lose of Rafalski. A player in which Brodeur relied on and trust in front of his net. This should be the yet that Gionta and Elias get back in the saddle and Parise and Zajac continue to grow. Tonight if the Devils win Mr. Brodeur will have his 500th win of his career...thats huge!!!!! Lets hope the boys can get their stride back and show us a little more motivation and confidence we've seen in the previous years.

Pre Season

Both the Canucks and Devils are done with the pre season, well every team is but it went better for some then other. At this point it doesn't appear that the lose of Gomez and Rafalski has made too big of an impact on the Devils, with a 4-2-0 in the pre season, but i think it will. Last year Gomez brought in 60 points and Rafalski 55. Those are big skates to fill. It will check up to them eventaully and when it does Lou Lamerillo is going to wish he tryed that little bit hard to keep Scotty and Brian in Jersey.
The Canucks, did make much of a change, they lost a few good players, most one in Bryan Smolinski, but they are still a young team so hopefully that can keep up with the reason of the league. Their pre-season wasn't quite as good has the Devils. At 3-2-2 the Canucks, need to work on their defensive situation but more importantly get some pucks in the net. and what is up with putting Naslund on the third line, he's better then that!

Pictures:)-----Ohlund and Linden

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5096536991685858850" style="WIDTH: 77px; The Canucks have made some small additions such as bringing in Curtis Sanford after losing Dany Sabourin to Pittsburgh, they brought in Bryon Ritchie and Brad Isbister after they lost Bryan Smolinski to the Habs. They also re-signed Lukas Karjicek. I think they lost a little more then they gained.

On the other hand thw New Jersey devils are facing some major set backs but trying to slowly rebuild and recover. The Most notable loses, and they're big ones, was losing Scotty Gomez to the rangers and and Brian Rafalski to the Red Wings. Dainius Zubrus and Karel Rachunek were brought in to fill that very large void. The Devils also lost Brad Lukowich to Tampa Bay.

Other notable trades
Todd Bertuzzi and Mathieu Schnieder went to the Ducks

Michael Nylander went to Washington

Chris Drury went to the Rangers

Daniel Brier went to Philadelphia

Paul Kariya wen to St Louis

Jocelyn Thibault went to Buffalo

Michael Nylander- hat trick

Huge Hockey Withdrawal

There hasn't been any hockey on for a little while now and I'm going through a little withdrawal. We played tough and we played smart but the puck just wouldn't go in the net for us! To Begin I'd like to say how proud of the Canucks I am this year for making this far. Also to Dave Nonis, it took me a good few months to get over losing Bertuzzi but watching Luongo now and what he means to this team, makes me happier then i ever was watching Bert.

The game started tough and continued that way until the very end. A controversial goal by the Ducks started Vancouvers uphill battle. "In regulation, Luongo gave up just one goal, a disputed Samuel Pahlsson shot that went over him early in the second when he was bowled over and smothered in his crease by Travis Moen."(SI Canucks Page)

Burrows tied it up on a rebound from a Josh Green shot half way through the third and hope was reignited. The Canadian club just couldn't get it done when oppertunity was knocking.

Early in the second overtime Jannick Hansen was hammered off the puck and onto the ice by Rob Niedermayer and his brother Scott was there to catch the puck from leaving the zone. Just simply throwing the rubber towards the net...it went it. And my heart stopped, my head dropped and I'm pretty sure i used word, unapporpiate right now...it was over.

Luongo thought Niedermayer was going to get an elbowing penalty so he put his hand up and looked at the ref. He reacted late to Scotty's shot.

Louie is trying to taken the blame, meanwhile he was the best Canucks on the ice. As soon as the whistle went Roberto dropped to the ice and with his head down, he just laid there, motionless for a few second as his teammates serounded him with condolences.

On the lighter side at the beginning of OT luongo was a no show, due to equipment problems. Dany Sabourin took center stage as Dave Nonis looked on with great confusion. Sabby only played 3 and a half minutes in Anahiem but they were a long 3:34 minutes. Facing 5 shots and making two minor and three huge saves. When Luongo re-entered the ice surface he made sure Dany knew how well he did and how much he appreicated his courage and strength to just step in and step it up.

So now its over and the seasons done for the boys, it's been a great one and I'm glad we made it this far. So Thanks for the great season and see you soon.

SSSWWWEEEEEEEETTTT

AH im so excited..the cancuks won last night and are going to round two against Anahiem. When watching the game i saw Matty shot and Linden in front and i didn't know it went in until Trev's arms went up and I jumped up and was all excited and .....pretty muich i when crazy. it was sooo awsume! then Pyatt and Smolinski scored empty netters just to be safe. wow! and it was so cute cuz Morrison made the pass to Pyatt to score and Mo was jumping up and down, he was so excited! Anywho it was a good lol.
Dallas scored first, Lundqvist. The the Canucks first goalwas a beauty. Daniel was tied up on the side boards and made a perfect back pass, without looking, to his brother on the other side of Turco and Henrik one-timered it to the top cornor. It was Nice. But yeah they start again Wednesday In Anahiem.

Devils in...canucks...?

So the devils are going to round two of the playoffs against Ottawa. Luongo had 76 shots in 137 minuts of play and came out with the win and the series lead.
The Devils play tonight against Tampa so hopefully they take the lead as well....but we'll see soon!

Playoff Time

So the playoffs start Wednesday and i'm extremely excited. I will be so overwelmed with hockey...almost heaven. Anyways Vancouver is playing Dallas in the first series and New Jersey is against Tampa.

I think the Canucks will actually do pretty well against Dallas becasue Turco seems a little awkward in net during playoffs and lately Vancouver had picked up their scoring. Also Luongo is having an awesome season and i think he will be excited (obviously) but becasue he is so competitive he will still be focus and get it done.

The Devils play Tampa and again i think their going to take the series. For starters New Jersey has, in my opinion, the best goaltender in the league, in Brodeur who well rested whereas the lightening goaltender situtation is a little unstable, without a definite No. 1. Not to undermine the LaCavalier line, which is clearly something to worry about but I still believe that the Devils can out power Tampa and take the series.

Another series I find interest is the Atlanta vs NYR series, not only becasue if Marcel Hossa makes it back in the line up for the series he'll be playing against his big brother, Marian. Although I really like the rangers and Lundqvist is AMAZING, one of my favorites Atlanta is higher on my good list and there just stronger overall!

Playoff run

Both the Canucks and the Devils will be making a playoff run this season. Now the perfect Stanley cup finals would of course be New Jersey against the Canucks. That would be awesome, although Vancouver pulling ahead of the Devils on my favorites list means i would be cheering for them, but every time the red pop in a goal I'd still have a smile on my face. so In general i would end up quiet content but it would be to my complete satisfaction if the Canucks brought the cup home. Either way both teams are in the playoffs and I hope both of them do really well. For Vancouver this is already a big step, as they missed the post season by 3 points last season.

Good Luck Boys!<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5050069666029481410" style="FLOAT: left; if he can return for the playoffs and stay healthly, this 5'7 player could produce big points, 10 PP goals in 56 games

Zach Parise- shows leadership already, has 56 points this season, loves the game, enthusiastic

Jamie Langenbrunner- 57 points, 62 PM, 11 PP goals, good leader

Canucks

Roberto Luongo- bearly trailing Daniel with 73 points, even better on ice vision, awesome play maker, couldn't ask for anything more

Markus Naslund- with 55 points, will soon wake up and realize he's the only Canucks with a "C" on his jersey and step it up a notch

Bryan Smolinski- good addition to the team already showing he belongs in the playoffs

Kevin Bieksa- picked it up this year after struggling a bit last season, 38 points this season 130 PM, good physical presence

Mattias Ohlund- having a great season with 30 points, excited to have Sopel back, reliable, doesnt needed to look flashly to do his job...<3

Trevor Linden- Then Trev decided, thats not cool, and tied it up with a feed across the crease from sedin, Linden one-timed it home. Then the twins didnt like being tied with The Oilers, and they changed that when Henrik gave Daniel and back-handed pass from the slot to the side of the net where number 22 hammered it home from the goal line. Roloson reacted as if Henrik was going to shot making that goal that much sweeter. Luongo was the first star of the game, no surprise, he did his fair share like always, flashing the leather and gettin it done.

This win points Vancouver 3 points of from Minnesota, a slightly padded lead in the NW division.

Linden has had 3 goals in his last 3 games. :D

Playoff Spots

Both the Devils and the Canucks are in safe playoff spots right now. Also Dany Sabourin getting his second win in a 4-2 victory against the Coyotes.

Trades

The Devils are staying pretty quite, but the days not over but i haven't heard of any big trade news from them...lucky.

The Canucks on the other hand have made a few additions with out breaking up the core of the team. Nonis getting Sopel back after losing him during the lock out. Sopel played his last 44 games with the Kings. Also Vancouver aquiring center Bryan Smolinski, yay, from Chicago. Smolinski had 37points with the Hawks, 4 PP goals, 3 Short handed and is a +10 this season.

In other new Bertuzzi is now A red wing which is a good thing, in my opinon.

Canucks big win!

Last night the Canucks beat LA 3-2 in regulation put them to 76 points. This is a VERY good time. Thanks to the win the Wild need 3 points to match Vancouvers points lead in Northwest Divison. Lucky Calgary is falling behind! The boys are really finding their step latey and getting the puck in the net. Last nights goal scorers were Morrison we a nice one timer kind of rebound, Linden with a beautiful wrist shot and Bieksa with a wrister in front aswell. Bieksa also got and assist and Nazzy got two assists. This puts them 7th in the league which is pretty sweet because they have a much better shot for the playoffs then last year now. They've put themselves in a much better position! Luongo is also a huge part of the Canucks turn around this season. And i love it went he gives his stick away, its cute. and i'm pretty jealous actually. being a goalie myself, I want his stick.lol. Anyways just wanted to get that out

OH and the devils are also doing mighty fine too. They are 4th in the NHL, yay. But i mean when you have Brodeur how could you not do well. Never mind the fact that you also have Gionta,Elias, Gomez, Parise, well i was going to name them all but it's pretty much the whole team!:)

Two Wins

So both the Devils and the Canucks collected two points last night. The Canucks beat the Oilers 5-2 and the Devils took the Rangers in SO 3-2.
In Edmonton, the Canucks took 24 shots getting 4 of them passed Roloson and one into an empty net. This was the Sedins game and they took it in full gear. Daniel collecting a point on every Vancouver goal with his second carreer hat trick and two assists. Henrik recorded four assists on the night, showing off his infamous slap pass that is execued so nicely. Naslund got his 17th of the season, on the powerplay early in the second. Pyatt also socred for his 16th. Luongo stopping 28 out of 30 shots.
New Jersey at home defeated the Rangers in SO, Gionta with the winning goal. Sean Avery with his first game as a ranger got an assist. The Devils getting away only 21 shots but Lundqvist came out the weaker link. New York having 30 shots on Brodeur who only allowed two to get by him. Paul Martin with the first goal for the Devils then Rachunek then scored for NYR. Parise with his 21 on the season put one home for the go ahead goal but Jagr tied it up early in the third. Neither teams able to put it away in the remainder of regualtion or extra time so the game was decieded in a shotout.

Vancouver is now 7th in there conference and 10th in the league with 64 points
NJ is second in ther conference, behind only Buffalo, and 5th in the league with 72 points

Canucks=:(, Devils=:)

The Canucks lost the division lead to the Flames the other night in a 4-3 lost in Calgary. Basically...it sucked. Luongo getting shot as 42 times while the Canucks didn't even put together 30 shots on Kipper. Louie was the 3rd star of the game making 38 stops.
Wow....did my heart fall to the floor with Luongo went down. Seriously it was not cool! Louie laid there motionless for a minute before being helped to his knees by the Canucks trainer. Phaneuf used Roberto's head at target practice for his 100mph slap shot. Luongo took it in the jaw, breaking the strap of his helmet. A trooper though he stayed in the game.
Vancouver started the scoring with two goals in the first by the twins. THEN Calgary got two in the second and two in the third putting the visitors behind by a deuce. Not Cool. Pyatt gave us a glimps of hope for OT when Naslund shot and its deflected of Taylor's stick and in with under 2 minutes to play. We didn't make it though. Fell short and gave the Flames two points. Both the twins and Pyatt left the ice with 2 points each but it wasn't enough.
And just like to mention Henrik Sedin has amazing hand eye coordination, beating Kiprusoff to a in flight puck, for the tip-in out of mid-air. it was cool. I'm pretty sure i remember him doing that before too.
On the brighter side of the NHL The Devils are in 5th place in the league with 70 points courtesy of Marty Brodeur and his 9 beautiful shutouts. New Jersey beat Buffalo 3-2 in regulation. All of the goals coming in the first 5 minutes of the third. Marty only facing 17 shots while the Devils throw 37 at Miller. Parise (1 goal and an assist), Langenbrunner (a goal and an assist), and Madden ( kick starting his team with the first Devils goal) were the third stars of the game.
Up next for the Devils a home games against the Rangers on Tuesday.

Canucks and Devils Updated

hey there. the vancouver canucks have won 6 of there last games but getting points in 3 of there loses. Last night they took Edmonton, 5-3 :), always good to beat divisional teams, expecially edmonton. Scoring for the canucks was Ohlund :) about half way through the first. then came Hank sedin with a nice redirect in the slot from his brother, in the second. Third period saw marc Chouinards 2nd goal of the season but it was pretty. then Naslund with a burst of speed cut infront of the net with a nice back hand, which i think went 5 hole not sure though. then bulis pumped one in with under 2 minutes to go. Reasoner, Petersen and Lupul scoring for the Oilers. Luongo had 32 shots allowing only 3 goals for a very......distracting edmonton offence, doing what ever they could to get in Luongos face.
Now for the Devils, beating Philly in OT, 6-5. couldnt watch this game so do have a lot of detail for you but ill try. The flyers started it off in the first about 2 minutes in with a tip in. The devils struck back with a wrister from the rookie Travis Zajac. Second period Flyers start it off again with a rebound goal from Knuble. Zajac didnt like that very much so decided to do something about that. a pass from Elias to Gomez, he shot and Zajac ow so gracefully tipped it in. devils not done for the second though mid-period Elias backhands one over Nittymaki. Into the Third now, once again the Flyers getting the party going, about 3 minutes in Afanasenkov with the wrister, beats Marty Broduer for his forth goal of the season. Philly fighting back now, gets a power play of David Hale for Interference. Ow and if you didnt know Darian Hatcher is the root of all evil, im suppose to spread the word. Knuble with another tip in for his second of the game. Langenbrunner strikes back quickly though, less then a minute later he slap on pass Nittymaki from the point to make it 4-4. Foppa put Philly ahead but not for long. With Broduer pulled and an extra attacker Parise fires one passed the goalie with about 30 secons left to put the game to OT. where Lukowich Tips one in with time winding down.

----------GP-- W-- L-- OT-- PT-- GF --GA--- Home ---Away ---Last 10
Canucks- 52--29 --19 ---4 ---62 -136 --132---17-8-2 --12-11-2 --6-3-1
Devils- --52 --31 --15 ---6 ---68 -140-- 125 ---17-4-4--14-11-2-- 6-2-2

All Star Game

SO i watched the all star game and the young gun game and skills comp. It was pretty good, the rail cam was a good view of the game! I have nothing against the jerseys meanly because i didn't really notice that much lol.
Youngster game- it was good, really wide open, 4 on 4. The game as a otal wasn't all that good but it showed te better scores and it gave the defence a better chance to show their scoring ability. Parise did really good with 2 goals and 4 assists and was the MVP of te game. Ryan Getzlaf also showed us how to scrore.
Skills Comp.- This was fun to watch! lol! Luongo did awsume and was the best goal in it. Brodeur did pretty good with a few mistakes, no biggie. Rafalski was also in the Eastern Team.

Wild End Win Streak

So last night the Minnesota Wild ended the Canucks 7 game win streak with a 5-2 Vancouver loss at GM place. Pyatt scored the canucks first goal to make is 3-1 and Mitchell got his first of the season with a tip in. but that as far as we got. Fernandez did amazing in net. Luongo had a so-so kinda game a few nice stops. One on a 2 on 1, denied johnsson....or Gaborik a goal, can't remember, one passed and one shot which was which...not sure. Canucks won 8 out of the last 9 games at home. The reffing on last nights game was a little week, Morrison got undoubtly tripped up at the side of the net and there was no call but no excuses. Both of the Canucks goals coming in the Second Period within 5 Minutes. Kesler and Bulis got the assists on Pyatts goal. Bulis with a nice move to create space to pass, and Naslund and Bieksa had the assists on Mitchells goal. Edler was back in the lineup but only saw about 13 minutes of ice time, still not to bad. The Wild took 38 shots ad Luongo, celebrating 5 times, while the Canuks only had 26 shots on Mr. Fernandez who made 24 stops.
Up next the Canucks face Toronto on Saturday in Toronto on Hockey Day In Canada

Good News

So the Canucks are in 10th place in the league now and 1st in there divison, thanks to there recent 7 game winning streak. Ohlund is 6th on the canucks for points and in his last 13 games has 10 points with 6 goals and 4 assists. Naslund finally snapped a 17 game goal-less streak with a early third period goal against the Flordia Panthers. The Twins have a combine total of 82 points so far and Henrik is 5th in the NHL for assists with 37. Lindens been picking it up lately with a string of recent goals, this is resulting in him getting more icetime to show what he can do. Morrison has also been picking it up lately....finally. But the biggest story for the canucks right now is Roberto Luongo who was named the weeks first star with a 2.44 GAA and in the last 4 games had 133 shots and stopped 125 of them leading the canucks to some pretty big wins. He's showing us that losing Bert, Auld and Allen, no matter how hard it was, is worth it. Luongo was also won 10 of his last 12 games and is 2nd in the league for wins with 24, trailing only, guess who.....Marty Brodeur.
The Devils are in 7th place right now. Marty brodeur got his 7th shutout of the year last game against Montreal. Brodeur only needs 5 more shutouts to beat his pervious shutout record of 11 made by him in 2003-2004. The last year the devils won the cup! Elias leads the Devils in points with 40 but its Gionta who has the most goals with 19. Rookie Travis Zajac in 8th on the team for points with only 22. Brian Rafalski, clearly deserving of it is gettin the most time on the ice for the Devils.

----------GP-- W-- L-- OT-- PT-- GF --GA--- Home ---Away ---Last 10

Canucks- 43 --24 --18 ---1 --49 --107 --111 --15-7-0 ---9-11-1 --7-3-0

Devils- --42 --25 --13 ---4 --54 --113--100 --14-3-3---11-10-1--- 7-1-2

Canucks- Devils- Moose

So the Canucks lost last night to Boston who has been doing pretty good lately but Vancouver plays Columbus tonight so i'm hopin we can win that game! Ohlund ( <3>
I also went to the moos game last night. it was a good game they lost in shotout but it was still good. i got to see Edler play which was cool (Edlers idol is Ohlund....I dont blame him). they played Hamilton with ...Yann Denis...owww....thats if you know who is if not then that meant nothing.
Back to the NHL, after the Devils five game winning streak then went on a four game losing streak, won another, then lose another and tonight they take on Washington! kinda
